Considering buying the Samsung Frame TV?
My husband & I LONG debated whether to keep our regular TV or upgrading to the Samsung Frame.
We recently renovated our entire home, so when it came time to design our new living room… I didn’t want to look at a big black box again!
Once I discovered there’s a TV that looks like a picture frame, I convinced my husband it’s the perfect balance.
I’m obsessed with it’s stunning frame and the elegance it brings to our family room.
It is a pricey investment though… so I’m often asked… is it worth it?!
Let’s find out!

Wait: There’s a Picture Frame TV?
Didn’t know there was actually a TV that looks like a picture frame?
I honestly thought everyone knew about the Samsung Frame TV by now, but I was just talking with an interior design client of mine and she had never heard of it!
The Frame TV legitimately looks like an actual picture frame and you can choose which pieces of art you want to display when you’re not watching TV. So cool!

About The Samsung Frame TV

The Installation Process
The biggest difference between a regular TV and the Samsung Frame TV is the fact that it actually sits 100% flush against the wall, making it look like a picture frame.
A regular smart TV typically sits 2-3+ inches off of the wall… which always drove me crazy seeing behind it from the side!
Because of this though, it makes it a little bit more difficult to install. So if you’re husband isn’t handy… I’d probably have a professional install it.
The TV itself comes with Samsung’s Slim Fit Wall Mount which is a pretty cool invention!
There’s a box that gets recessed into the wall for the power cord and cable and then the mount itself is very flat.
Then there’s a Slim One Connect Box that you can hide even behind a cabinet door, under a dresser etc so it’s never visible!
About the Art Mode
When the TV’s off, the Frame TV display looks like wall art and has a built-in motion sensor.
Which means you no longer have to see a big black rectangle!
You can choose your own artwork and have your TV double as home decor.
The Samsung Frame TV gets a bad wrap because everyone thinks you have to pay for the monthly subscription to the Samsung Art Store in order to have an art display.
You actually don’t!
You can upload your own family photos or pay for some digital art on Etsy once and then upload that.
I’ve also heard people are concerned about its energy consumption.
Because it has built-in motion sensors, you can set up your art to display when you’re in the room, and turn off when you’re not!
About the Frame Itself
As an FYI, the Frame TV doesn’t come with the frame included!
Samsung has their own collection of frame styles or you can purchase an off-brand like Deco Frames as well.
I purchased our Frame from Amazon and it’s the Sand Gold Metal color!
It’s magnetic and just clicks on so it’s super easy to install.

Why We Love The Frame TV
Here’s why we’re totally in love with The Frame TV…
- The fact that I can look at beautiful art instead of a black screen.
- Its matte display doesn’t have the shiny finish of a traditional TV!
- That it sits 100% flush against the wall so there’s no gap behind it.
- I love looking at the beautiful brass frame I chose! It’s available in different colors if I get bored in a few years too.
I plan to replace all of our TV’s with Frame TV’s eventually!
They are pricier than a regular Samsung TV but I think it is totally worth it.
We have a 55″ TV on a 72″ wide fireplace and the 55″ retails for $1,499 but we actually got ours for $1,200.
I find that you can get a good deal if you wait for a special!

So… Is It Worth It?
I think it’s pretty obvious that I think the Samsung Frame TV is the best TV!
Finally I can have my design aesthetic AND function for our living room.
Next we’ll be replacing the TV’s in our master bedroom and basement!
If you’re on the fence… trust me… just get one! You won’t regret it.
