Sharing is caring!

Today I’m excited to share with you one of my favorite paint colors – Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace

In my opinion, it’s one of the best white paint colors out there – if not THE best – that’s why I used it throughout our entire home.

It’s crisp white color gives our home such a fresh look that’s bright and will never go out of style!

We’ll talk about why I love it, plus trim and ceiling paint options, the type of paint we used and how it stacks up against the popular Benjamin Moore White Dove.

Let’s get started…

Why I love Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace

Let’s talk about WHY I love Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace OC-65…

I’ve been obsessed with white walls for many years now!

Clean white walls are not boring at all! In fact, they allow for all of the other colors and textures in your home to pop.

I tried out MANY samples of white paint colors, and ultimately Chantilly Lace was the cleanest looking white in all types of lighting, with virtually no undertones.

We painted our entire beach house in Chantilly Lace. When we purchased our current home, I briefly considered using Benjamin Moore White Dove, but ultimately chose Chantilly Lace AGAIN because I love the versatility of this paint color so much.

It’s a SAFE white that doesn’t clash with anything, so if you’re afraid of making a big color mistake when painting your whole home, you’ll be very happy with Chantilly Lace!

Using Chantilly Lace as Your Trim and Ceiling Paint

I am regularly asked what paint color I went with for our trim and ceiling paint.

I understand why, because in our last house we went with the standard Sherwin Williams trim and ceiling paint, which is what most everyone does!

This time around, we decided to match the ceiling and trim color to… you guessed it… Chantilly Lace… as pictured above on our doors and trim.

I’m going to dive into the type of paint we used more below, but I’ll briefly mention that for our walls we went with flat paint!

I was very hesitant to do this because I wanted my walls to be a very easy-to-clean surface due to my children. More on that later…

So for our trim paint, we simply changed the sheen used to semi-gloss. Then for our ceiling paint, we were able to use the same wall paint!

What Type of Paint We Used

We ended up using Sherwin Williams Duration Home paint and I am SO happy with it!

See it above in Chantilly Lace, used in our hallway, a very high traffic area of our home…

All of the painters we interviewed were really pushing us to use flat paint throughout the home, because of it’s excellent hiding skills of drywall imperfections.

They also said flat is the best for doing paint touch-ups over time!

At our beach house, the builder used flat paint and it was a nightmare… you literally could not wipe it at all… and nothing came off. My husband had to do paint touch-ups quarterly!

This time around… I really wanted paint that could hold up in high-traffic areas and handle some gentle scrubbing.

Duration Home (in flat) has been everything I’d hoped and more! My husband has yet to do a single touch up. ALL of the grub, scratches etc my kids have left on the walls has all come off with minimal washing.

Chantilly Lace vs White Dove

If you take a look at Benjamin Moore’s website, both Chantilly Lace and White Dove are in their most popular paint colors!

I’ve seen some blogger’s examples of White Dove used throughout the home and I was seriously considering using it this time around.

In the end, I got nervous because White Dove is known to have yellow undertones and be significantly creamier than the crisp white look at Chantilly Lace.

We have cream kitchen cabinets, so I was cautious of everything being TOO creamy and making anything I had pure white looking dingy.

I think White Dove looks beautiful on some homes I’ve seen, but it really depends on everything else you have in the space.

Plus, you need to consider how it looks in the evenings without natural light!

Final Words

Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace is one of the most popular white paint colors – and for good reason!

It’s the perfect backdrop for our high-end finishes and gives each room a new dimension of beauty.

I always recommend purchasing paint samples and seeing how a color like Chantilly Lace performs in your space!

Take a look at it not only during the daytime, but in the evening too.

We’re very happy with how our coastal home turned out, and I know you will be too!
